Review: Pokémon Omega Ruby

Hello. I’m back. Today I will be reviewing Pokémon Omega Ruby. As always I will be splitting this review up into 5 segments: story, gameplay, graphics, notes and rating. I hope you like this review and agree with my opinion.

The story of this game revolves around the evil Team Magma trying to awaken the ancient Pokémon, Groudon. This Pokémon has the power to raise new land with every step it takes and is in fact a third of a trio of Pokémon known as the weather trio. The reason team Magma is after this Pokémon is that they wish to expand the land, thus creating a larger stage for mankind to stand on. Of course everything goes sour and our hero must face Groudon in battle. This is all alongside the protagonist’s main goal of defeating the 9 most powerful Pokémon trainers in the land to then become the champion of the Hoen region.

As this is a remake of the original Pokémon Ruby it uses a lot of the same mechanics: one on one Pokémon battles, secret bases and so on. But for those of you who have never played a Pokémon game before, here’s how the battle system works. Each Pokémon has an element associated with them, such as fire, electric, water, grass.  This element gives them a set of strengths and weaknesses. For example fire takes double damage from water and gives half damage to water. For those of you who hate fighting, there is the contest spectacular, where you pit your Pokémon against others in a competition to see who is the cleverest, toughest, most beautiful, cutest, or coolest Pokémon. These contests are mainly there to give you good items for winning them and are not affiliated with the main story.

This game has some limitations when it comes to graphics because of its platform being the 3DS. Though it does look quite nice most of the time, it can be quite pixilated at times. The graphics for the various moves, while they aren’t very flashy, do get their point across. And the character designs are fairly decent. All in all this has some pretty good graphics.

The notes section this time about will mainly be about difficulty and tips.

This game can be hard at times. Take for instance the electric type gym. Since electric only has one weakness, if you didn’t pick up a ground type, you’re going to have a bit of a bad time. A good place to pick up a ground type is the granite cave near Dewford town. This will save you the trouble of having all your Pokémon faint and having to start the gym all over again. Other important things to note about type weaknesses is that flying type Pokémon or Pokémon with the ability levitate do not take damage from ground type attacks.

My final rating of this game is 8/10 mainly because of the massive difficulty spike.

This is the Red King signing off, hope to talk to all of you again soon

Review: minecraft

Hello everyone and welcome back to Redking gaming! Sorry for the lack of activity recently, I had school and such whatnot, though I am back now with a review.

Today I will be reviewing one of my favourite games of all time: Minecraft. I may be a few years late with this but hey, what can I do about that. I will be splitting my reviews up into a few sections: story, gameplay, graphics, notes, and rating. Now that I’ve got that out of the way, let’s start the review!

Minecraft has no story other than what you create. And that’s one of its draws, at least for me. You can be anything from the savior of humanity, to its destroyer. You can create a sci-fi world where you’re leading a resistance against alien overlords or a fantasy world where you’re slaying the undead creations of a necromancer living in another dimension. Though there is an optional quest to kill the ender dragon that can’t really be counted as a story.

In Minecraft you run around an endless world fighting monsters, crafting items, building, trading with non-player characters. For an extra challenge you can build a nether portal to do all of the above in a hellish landscape. There are three ways to play Minecraft the way I see it: multiplayer, whether goofing around with friends on a server of your own or playing on one of the popular minigame/survival servers this one’s for people who love company. There’s singleplayer survival for those of us who love a challenge, or creative where you can unleash your creativity or just mess around all of these are a truly unique experience

Though many people say the graphics are horrible, I say they aren’t half bad. The blocky, pixelated art style is charming in its own way. And you can always change it up with resource packs which change the appearance and sound of the game.

As for notes, well these are all the reasons this is my favourite game of all time. For one when playing I can do anything I want. It’s designed around creativity and exploration. Another thing, it can be a very social experience, with servers and LAN worlds I can enjoy this game with all my friends. Because of all this and more I give Minecraft a rating of 10/10.

Hope to see all of you again soon.

glitch: missingno

Hello and welcome to my first blog post! today i’d like to give a tutorial for a glitch. so you’ve played Pokemon red & blue and got 151 Pokemon. you’ve completed the game, got em all. or have you.

missingno is an infamous glitch Pokemon from gen 1. missingno is a flying normal type with the moves… it has no real moves… anyway it can’t evolve though depending on various circumstances it can assume various forms. of course you want to catch it don’t you. and here is how ya do it.

  1. make sure you’re name is ash (even though you’re a better trainer)
  2. talk to the old man in viridian city(tutorial guy)
  3. immediately afterward fly to cinnabar island.
  4. surf along the coast line until you encounter him.

and that’s it simple.

I hope you liked my first blog post. please come back next week when i’ll most likely have a new post.
